Editorial standards

How we research and verify what we publish.

Every guide on this site is sourced, reviewed by someone who knows the subject, and kept current.

Guiding principles

Four rules for everything we write.

Our guides, destination pages and advice are written to be accurate and genuinely useful.

Accuracy first
Regulations, safety, geography and culture must be correct and current. Accuracy comes before everything else.
Expert-driven
Content is written and reviewed by people with professional experience in Indonesian luxury travel, maritime and aviation.
Client-centric
We write to answer the real questions travellers ask, with practical information.
Transparency
We are open about our process and our business, and keep editorial advice distinct from promotion.

Research and sourcing

Where our facts come from.

  • Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf)
  • Directorate General of Sea Transportation (Ditjen Hubla)
  • Directorate General of Civil Aviation (Ditjen Hubud)
  • Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), for tourism trends
  • Certified cultural guides of the HPI
  • Marine biologists and luxury hotel managers
  • Our teams and crews operating in each region

We do not rely on third-party travel blogs or outdated sources.

Review workflow

Four steps before anything is published.

01

Draft

Written by someone with specific knowledge of the topic.

02

Expert review

Checked by at least one relevant internal expert. A Komodo National Park article goes to our maritime operations desk.

03

Editorial review

Checked for clarity, tone, style and grammar.

04

Final approval

A senior team member approves it before publication.

Update cadence

How pages stay current.

Regulations change, destinations emerge and conditions shift. Our pages follow.

Annual review
Cornerstone content, such as major destination guides and safety pages, is formally reviewed and updated at least once a year.
Event-driven updates
We monitor regulations, weather patterns and travel advisories. Any significant event triggers an immediate review.
Feedback loop
When clients or partners bring new information, we investigate and update the page.

Conflict of interest

We do not accept payment for positive reviews or editorial placements.

We recommend only partners, vessels and experiences we have vetted under our methodology. Commercial relationships with partners we mention are disclosed where appropriate.
